8 Hour Traffic School Class / Florida Intermediate Driver Improvement DDS Course
The 8 hour DDS (Defensive Driving School) course is a Certified Florida Traffic School class typically ordered by the courts as part of a sentencing judgment, but sometimes as an "election" (see below). Officially named the 8 Hour Intermediate Driver class, a few Florida counties refer to this 8 hour traffic school course on their court documents as the 8 Hour Basic DDS class, 8 Hour DDC (Defensive Driving Course) or the 8 Hour Level 2 Course. Look carefully at your Court Papers.
| If you have been Court Ordered to take an Aggressive Driver course, the 8 Hour DDC / Intermediate WILL NOT satisfy that requirement; go to our 8 Hour Aggressive Driver Page. |
The 8 Hour Intermediate Driver Improvement (IDI) course is typically for the individual who has:
Received multiple traffic citations over a short period of time.
- Received mandatory or serious traffic violations.
- Election - Some Florida counties (including Dade, Broward and Palm Beach) allow you to take this class for a traffic ticket if you have already taken the 4 hour BDI course in the last 12 months. Check and get approval from the county before you take this class as an "Election".
Our 8 hour traffic school class is offered two ways; as a Traditional Classroom (In Person) course in Orlando, Tampa or Tallahassee or as an Online Internet Class. Whichever method you choose, your Completion Certificate is accepted in all 67 Florida Counties (see below).
Traditional Classroom 8 Hour Defensive Driver Course
The 8 hour DDS traffic school class is available each weekend in a Traditional Live Classroom at our Tampa Center, our Orlando location near the UCF Campus, or at our Tallahassee location. A class is completed in one day on Saturdays. We also offer the course once a month in Orlando on Wednesdays.
Nations Traditional Classroom courses are conducted in a relaxed seminar style format. The course is divided into multiple sessions and topics. While there is no test required to complete the class, students are expected to actively participate in the seminar discussions in order to receive their Completion Certificate.
The cost of the Live Classroom course is $70.00. It includes the course, classroom materials, all State of Florida fees, and your certificate. There are no Hidden Fees. Plus, your original Completion Certificate (for the Court) and a copy is provided at the end of the class for your records.
Students need to pre-register for our weekend courses no later than Friday at 2:00 pm. (See our traffic school classroom schedules page).
