8 Hour Intermediate Driver Improvement Class (IDI)
The 8 hour Defensive Driving School (DDS) course is a Certified Florida Traffic School class normally ordered by the courts as part of a sentencing judgment. A few Florida counties also refer to this course as the 8 Hour Basic DDS class or the 8 Hour Level 2 Course. Look carefully at your Court Papers.
The Intermediate Driver Improvement (IDI) course is typically for the individual who has:
Received multiple traffic citations over a short period of time.- Received mandatory or serious traffic violations.
- Been involved in numerous collisions.

Our 8 Hour Intermediate (IDI) Course is a Certified Florida Defensive Driving (DDS) Course. Listed on some County Court Papers as the 8 Hour Basic DDS or 8 Hour DDS, your Certificate is accepted in all counties including Alachua, Bay, Brevard, Broward, Dade, Hernando, Highlands, Lake, Lee, Monroe, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole and Volusia Counties. Call us or the Clerk of the Courts if you have questions.
Some Florida counties (including Dade, Broward and Palm Beach) allow you to take this course for a traffic ticket if you have already taken the 4 hour Basic Driver Improvement course in the last 12 months. Each county determines if this 8 hour traffic school course can be taken as an "Election" for a ticket. Check with the county before you take this class to satisfy your specific requirement.
The 8 Hour IDI Traffic School course is offered two ways; as an Online Internet Class and in a Traditional Classroom. Whichever method you choose, your Completion Certificate is accepted in all 67 Florida Counties.
Internet Class Features
Our internet class is designed to be as convenient as possible for the student. It is a 8 hour class, but you work at your own pace. You complete the readings in increments of time, according to your own schedule. Any time you sign out to take a break, the next time you logon, you are returned to the point where you left. You can even use a different computer to sign in the next time.
The 8 Hour IDI (Intermediate Driver) online class is divided into eighteen (18) modules. At the end of each module, there are a couple of simple review questions. (Hint - remember these answers or print them.) After you read through the materials, answer the module review questions, you take a final exam. The computer grades the exam and you will know immediately if you have passed. You need to get 80% or more correct to pass. If you do not pass, you will be able to retake the test immediately at no additional charge.
The TOTAL cost of our 8 hour online traffic school class is $49.95. It includes the course, all State of Florida fees, certificate processing and electronic delivery of your certificate to the email address you provide. There are NO HIDDEN FEES or surprise charges when you register! (Other Online schools charge you an additional $9.95 to email your certificate.)
When you successfully complete the 8 hour internet DDS traffic school class, your certificate will be e-mailed to you the next business day at No Extra Charge. We routinely process and email Certificates 2 times a day, Monday through Friday. When you receive it, simply print it on your own printer for the court.
8 Hour Internet Traffic School Class Registration and Access
Our online classes are very simple to use. You log onto our virtual classroom web site and Register online via your normal Internet connection. Nothing special is required or needs to be downloaded.
When you register for the 8 hour online traffic school class, you choose your own password and username to gain immediate access to the course. After registering, you will be given an Access Code. Write down all 3 of these.
Once you are registered, you can return to the 8 hour Online Florida Traffic School as many times as you need to complete the class. You may complete the course in one sitting or login many times. You can sign in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any computer connected to the internet.
We encourage our students to complete your final exam within 4-5 business days prior to your court due date so we can deliver the certificate to you and you have time to deliver it to the Traffic Court. This is especially necessary if you do not have an Email address and we have to "snail mail" your certificate via USPS. If you do not have a printer and the certificate needs to be rushed via FedEx, a "rush fee" may apply. In a real emergency, we can complete your certificate within a couple hours notice!
Traditional Live 8 Hour Intermediate Driver Class
The 8 hour IDI traffic school class is available each weekend in a Traditional Live Classroom course at either our Tampa Center or our Orlando location near the UCF Campus. A class is completed in one day on Saturdays. We also provide a class in our Tampa Education Center on alternate Thursdays each month.
Students need to pre-register for this weekend course no later than Friday at 3:00 pm. (See our traffic school class schedule page).
Our classes are conducted in a relaxed seminar style format. The course is divided into multiple sessions and topics. While there is no test required to complete the class, students are expected to actively participate in the seminar discussions in order to receive their Completion Certificate.
The cost of the Live Classroom course is $70.00 (in English). It includes the course, classroom materials, all State of Florida fees, and your certificate. Your original Completion Certificate (for the Court) and a copy is provided at the end of the class for your records.

Benefits
Attendance of this 8 Hour DDS Florida Traffic School course has the following benefits. If you have been ordered by the court as part of a sentencing judgment to attend an 8 hour Intermediate Driver Improvement course, completion of this class will satisfy that judgment.
Traffic citations received usually will have points attached to them. The conviction typically appears on your record, as will the points. Upon successful completion of this class, points associated with your violation will typically not be added to your Florida driving record by the Court.
