As we age, it is important for senior drivers to know and understand how to adjust for slower reflexes, weaker vision and other medical / age related changes.  With the exception of drivers under age 25, senior are at a higher risk of having a serious collision per mile driven.  Drivers in their late 70s have about the same number of injury-involved crashes per mile driven as those in their early 20s.  And drivers aged 85 and older are injured or killed in crashes at a higher rate than any other group.

This is primarily due to increased fragility that comes with normal aging.  Older senior drivers are often less able to withstand the forces of a collision, so they are more likely to become injured, compared with younger drivers.  As you may have already realized, mature adults often take longer to recover from injuries as quickly as they once did.

The online Senior Driver Safety Course is designed to be as easy and convenient as possible for the student.  It is a 6 hour course, but you work at your own pace.  You complete the curriculum according to your own schedule.  Any time you sign out to take a break, the next time you login, you are returned to the point where you left.

By taking our Senior Defensive Driving course you will be refreshing your defensive driver skills, learn the current rules of the road and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today's challenging driving environment.  You'll learn how you can manage and accommodate common age-related changes in reaction time, vision and even hearing.  Some topics covered include:

• How to minimize the effects of dangerous blind spots
• How to maintain the proper following distance behind another car
• The safest ways to change lanes and make turns at intersections
• Proper use of safety belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes and new technology found in modern cars
• Ways to monitor your's and others' driving skills and capabilities
• The effects of medications on driving
• How to eliminating / minimize distractions, such as eating, grooming and using a cell phone

Our online course combines text and animations to create an online experience that's interesting and interactive.  The class contains 12 chapters, each about 30 minutes in length.  At the end of each chapter there is a short quiz of 3 to 5 multiple choice questions.  We suggest you schedule yourself to take a 10-minute break every hour.

There is NO final exam for our Mature Driver Course!  When you complete your class, simply download your certificate and send it to your insurance carrier.  And remember, your certificate is good for 3 years.

The online Mature Defensive Driver class is easy to use.  You log onto our virtual classroom web site and Register online via your normal Internet connection.  Our online course is compatible with all desktop, laptops or tablet devices.  Nothing special is required or needs to be downloaded.  (See PC and Browser requirements.)

You choose your own password and Username when you register.  After successfully registering, you will immediately gain access to the online course.

Once you are registered, you can return to the Virtual Online Classroom as many times as you need to complete your online class.  You may complete the course in one sitting or login many times.  You can sign in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any computer, laptop or tablet connected to the internet.

When you successfully complete the online course, your certificate will be processed and you download the certificate immediately after completing your class.  The download is in a .jpg format.  (No charge to you .. it's free!)  When you download it, simply deliver it to your insurance agent or carrier

1. Email - $4.95
   Your Certificate will be sent in PDF format to the email address you provide during registration.  You can save for your records, and print a hard copy or send to your insurance carrier or agent.
2. USPS First Class Mail ($9.95)
   Select this option if you need to receive a hard copy of your Certificate.  Your Certificate will be mailed to the address you provide during Registration using the US Postal Service 1st Class Mail.  Typical delivery from Tallahassee to your home address will be 2 to 3 business days throughout Florida.
