New York Insurance & Point Reduction Program

Do you want to lower your auto insurance rates or reduce the points on your DMV Record?  Our Online New York Defensive Driving course is a DMV licensed traffic violator class that fulfills the strict standards established by the State's defensive driving educational requirements.  This online Traffic School course fills all requirements for the New York Internet Point Insurance Reduction Program (IPIRP) and is accepted by all New York insurance companies.

By taking our online course, you will qualify for the following:

  • Insurance Reduction.  Receive a discount on your automobile insurance.  New York drivers who complete our IPIRP Course are eligible to receive a mandatory 10% reduction on their auto insurance.  New York state law mandates that the insurance reduction is effective for three years. (or)
  • Point Reduction.  Reduce up to 4 points from your NY Driving Record.  The Point Reduction will be applied for tickets received within the previous 18 months.

Online Course Features

Our traffic school class is totally online and contains the most current information on defensive driving and New York laws.  The course will take you 6 hours to complete, but is purposely designed to be entertaining, interactive and educational.  The course combines text and animations to create an online experience that's interesting and interactive.

Any time you sign out to take a break, the next time you login, you are returned to the point where you left the previous session.  Because you are attending in a "virtual classroom", you can use another computer, laptop or tablet at a different location to complete your defensive driving course.

The total tuition of your online traffic school course is $29.95.  There are NO HIDDEN FEES or surprise charges when you register!  The price includes the class, certificate processing and automatic filing of your certificate with the DMV and a digital download of your copy at the end of the class.  (Many schools charge you an additional $9.95 for Certificate Processing and delivery.)

New York Sate does not require students to pass a final exam when taking an online I/PIRP course.  Upon successfully completing the Online class, your certificate is automatically filed electronically with the DMV (if you are taking the course for Point Reduction).  Your copy will be immediately available for downloading in digital format when you finish the class (Free - Download).

Insurance Reduction:  Download in digital format at the end of the class.  You must provide a copy to your insurance company or agency.

  1. If you provide your certificate to your insurance company or agent within 90 days after course completion, your liability and collision premium reduction will begin immediately, retroactive to the date you completed the course.
  2. If you present your certificate more than 90 days after course completion, your insurer may issue the premium discount effective from the date they received it.

Point Reduction:  Upon completion of your online course, we will automatically file your Certificate with the DMV.  A notice will then be entered on the students driving record, and the DMV computer will automatically reduce their active point total by up to four points.  Completion of a course under the "Point & Insurance Reduction Program" does not remove, delete, subtract, or erase any violation, conviction, or notice of original number of points from your driving record.

Even after you complete the course, most violations, conviction and points assessed may continue to show on your driving record for up to four years.  Violations and convictions involving drugs or alcohol will remain on your driving record for ten years. "Point reduction" means the DMV will not count up to four points on your driving record toward license revocation or suspension.

If you need to verify the course completion has been entered on your record by the DMV, you may request a copy of your driving record from the NYS DMV.  To do so, you order your driving record online, or complete a "Request for Driver and/or Vehicle Record Information" (Form MV-15), available at any motor vehicle office.
